海水中蘊含多種的礦物質,礦物質對皮膚的健康具有有益特性,而保養品也常常添加礦物質當作功效成分。 來自法國布列塔尼的海泉水經過特殊處理之後,減少鹽分的含量,留下對皮膚有益的礦物質成分 如:銅、錳、鋅、矽、鈣、鎂、鉀、鈉等。

海水中的礦物質
鈣(Ca)+鎂(Mg)+鈉(Na)+鉀(K)+鐵(Fe)
來自深海基岩的礦泉水(10%)(富含鈣、鎂、鈉、鉀、鐵等礦物質)有助減緩異位性皮膚炎的症狀如:水腫、紅斑、乾燥、瘙癢和經皮水分散失的嚴重程度; 另篇研究指出,10%高濃度礦泉水有助於促進傷口癒合及改善異位性皮膚炎症狀。 將海水/礦泉水應用於保養品當中,研究指出,含2.5%死海水的皮膚乳液對於兒童異位性皮膚炎的皮膚屏障功能和水合作用有益。 而海水中的個別礦物質應用於皮膚,也有許多文獻支持,包括:異位性皮膚炎的發炎情形、促進皮膚傷口癒合及皮膚屏障功能的改善皆有有益的幫助。
錳(Mn)+碘(I)
含有錳和碘離子的酸性溶液(pH 2.0-3.0)在臨床上可用於治療由金黃色葡萄球菌引起的皮膚病。
鋅(Zn)
鋅是一種必需礦物質,在皮膚病學領域已被廣泛研究,用於治療多種皮膚病。最近的研究指出,鋅可能是手術後傷口癒合的有益治療選擇。
鈣(Ca)
鈣除了作為止血過程中的關鍵凝血因子外,鈣離子還被證明是在傷口癒合過程中指導不同類型細胞功能的關鍵因子,能夠調節皮膚傷口癒合。
鎂(Mg)
抑制蘭格罕細胞的抗原呈現能力,因此可能有助於治療炎症性皮膚病;在高鎂含量的死海鹽溶液(5%)中沐浴可改善皮膚屏障功能、增強皮膚水分,並減少乾性異位性皮膚炎的粗糙、發紅情形。
研究指出,外用含2%鎂的乳膏對於嬰幼兒尿布皮膚炎及尿布疹具有改善作用。

研究指出,鎂離子及矽離子能刺激皮膚組織的再生,有助於皮膚傷口癒合。
